Human Centered Computing

Since end of 2005 I am working as a research associate at the Institute for Information Sciences and New Media of the University of Siegen. My research focuses on cooperation and community systems. Current projects deal with concepts of user development, adaptable mobile devices, and context-aware applications.

User Centered Design

For the competence centre Usability Engineering of Fraunhofer-Institute for Applied Information Systems (FhG-FIT) in Sankt Augustin I analyzed in 2004 the usabiliy of Software-Systems. Besides the software-ergonomic design and evaluation of user interfaces (GUI) we focused on services for user-centered engineering of software systems. Today I cooperate very intensely with this FIT competence centre.

Organization Development

From 1997 until 2001 I was working as CEO and as senior consultant and project manager for the research, consulting, and training company AGENDA CONSULT GmbH . This company was founded as a spinn-off from scientists from the former GMD - Forschungszentrum Informationstechnik GmbH (today Fraunhofer Society ) and the Institute for Computer Sciences of the University of Bonn. AGENDA CONSULT is seated in the TechnoPark of Fraunhofer Society in Sankt Augustin near Bonn, in which a brand of young innovative enterprises is located, which offer products and services for organizations of the media and information society. Scientists and business trainer are working for AGENDA CONSULT as consultants, trainer, process promoter, and change manager. The very close cooperation with organization scientists, psychologists, computer scientists, and economists guarantees a reliable application of scientific findings for complex problem solving projects.

University Research

As a psychologist I worked at the Institute for Computer Sciences of the University of Bonn from 1992 until 1997 as an associate researcher at the transdisciplinary Project Dept. Software-Ergonomics and CSCW (ProSEC) . In this work I focussed social aspects of technological development, especially Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), software-ergonomic design criteria for network systems, work and social psychological evaluation, Human-Computer Interaction, and related aspects of organization sociology. In my research I was engaged in the conception of an participatory approach of integrated Organization and Technology Development (OTD) and a scenario based evaluation methodology.

Political and Publicistic Engagement

As an editor I am volunteering for the political science quarterly "Research Journal New Social Movements (FJNSB)" . This journal is published since 1988, since 2000 at the Lucius & Lucius publishing house (Stuttgart). FJNSB defines itself as a platform for the dialogue between social movement activists, scientists, and political opportunity structures. In this discourse design requirements and options of our political and social future should be discussed and evaluated.
